There are a multitude of ethnic groups in Chad, including, Sara (Ngambaye/Sara/Madjingaye/Mbaye) making up 30.5%, Kanembu/Bornu/Buduma making up 9.8%, Arab making up 9.7%, Wadai/Maba/Masalit/Mimi making up 7%, Gorane making up 5.8%, Masa/Musseye/Musgum making up 4.9%, other making up 30.6%, and an unspecified making up 1.7%.
Officially recognized languages are French and Arabic, however over 120 languages and dialects are spoken across the country.

The population growth rate in Chad is 3.2% annually and a population density of 14.24 people per square kilometer. This is also why there is a fairly large population in Chad at over 17 million people.
Current social problems include people being jailed for protests, many people living in poor conditions, and a lot of discrimination and violence.Â
